I was out visiting the property the other day and noticed a pool of water about 4' in diameter near the furnace. The furnace is about 6" away from the 2X6 loadbearing wall (WOOD). The water has indeed soaked up into the wood about an inch from the concrete floor. I have made Mattamy aware of this OBVIOUS problem...

Has anyone else been through anything like this???

I will be moving in March 20th

Cheers

We had a water problem in our basement. Our window was leaking and it pooled a couple of inches under the stairs. There was drywall all around the area. Which then became moldy. It wad discusting. Mattamy had to get rid of the water. All they did with the mold is cut off the drywall that was covered with it. They never replaced the drywall they cut off. Since it is a basement it is concidered "unfinished." They didnt replace the wooden studs that were both holding up the drywall or that is around the bottom of the walls, or the stairs that the water was touching. The biggest problem wasnt even that they didnt replace the wood or the drywall that they just cut out, but that even though they "fixed" the window, it leaked again! Including the first time they installed the window they have had to re-seal it 4 times! I am just waiting for it to leak again this spring. Good luck to you with what ever is causing your water problem.

On the second night we spent in our house the basement leaked, because it was a friday night at around 11pm we had to call the on-call person and they didn't come to do anything about it until the next day around 11am. My Husband, Father and Father-in-Law had to get tarps and surround the base of our house outside to keep the rain moving away from our foundation. It was brutal.......according to Mattamy it was a grading problem, but we still don't know what they did to fix it. After that it got cold, the ground is now frozen so obviously we won't know what will happen until the spring.
Our leak was around the bottom of the basement stairs and the drywall, it looks like all they did was cover the wall with plastic and tape it up.

I guess this is the reason they don't want you finishing your basement for 2 years......we just have to cross our fingers that in the spring we don't have another flood.

Good Luck, Abby

At least I'm not the only one with water issues in the basement...

Just FYI, I called about his problem last monday and was told that someone would call me back with a solution or whatever - no call. I called again on wednesday and actually spoke to "Scott" who said he'd call me back, guess what - NO CALL. Today is friday, so yet another week bites the dust...

The games have started already!!!

Cheers
