Now that the weather has improved, we're starting to shop around for an AC. Who did you use and how much did you pay?

We went with Aire One. Kept seeing their van around the neighbourhood so we called. Paid $2900 incl. taxes and install for a 3-tonne unit. Could have gone cheaper but we wanted something more energy efficient. No complaints, service was fast and our house was nice and cold last summer!

We have a 34, Plan 2 (1735 sq.ft), just wondering if anyone who has central air for that house size can tell me what size unit you went with.

For that size house you want to go with a 2 ton unit. The general rule of thumb is that you get a 1/2 ton for ever 500 sqare feet of you house, with always rounding up to the nearest 1/2 ton, you don't want to go smaller because you unit will be running all the time try to keep the house cold and it will burn itself out even earlier on top of the cost of burning you electricty.

Enjoy
